At the age of 76 our beloved President Corazon “Cory” Aquino was died with cardio respiratory arrest last August 1, 2009 @ 3:18 am in the morning in the Makati Medical Center. And it is already 6 am in the morning when I knew the news when I watch the Umagang Kayganda program of ABS-CBN. In that moment I feel shock. I cannot believe nor even imagine that the person I consider as the one who contributed a great part in the democracy we have in the Philippines today was already past away.
President Corazon “Cory” Aquino:
Thank you for being strong in the times when every one was weak and no one to turn to; from saving the Pilipino people from Marshall Law. Thank you for opening the heart of every Pilipino to be enthusiasts enough to fight for their own right from the hand of the Dictator (Pres. Marcos). Thank you for opening their eyes to seek for justice and freedom, to find out what was the truth and make them believe that in every rain they experience there’s always a rainbow after it. This means that do not give up there was still hope behind these trials. Thank you for leading the first ever bloodless 1986 EDSA revolution during the people power II (in history) who encourages and contributes incredible changes not just in our country as well as the other country in the world and its people. Well in fact this change gives them this democracy that they experience today. Democracy that gives everyone a freedom to do what they all want to do. Thank you for letting every one realized that they all have choices. It was for them to decide whether they choose to risk their life (like what Ninoy did) for the good of every one or stay innocent, deaf and apathetic for all the unjust things that happen in our society. Thank you for challenging the youth to explore their skills and talents beyond their limit and not to be contented but continue to discover and find more. Thank you for being a model, a leader and a mother to billions of Pilipino people. Thank you for giving every Pilipino a chance to live life to the fullest with love, pride and faith in God.
President Corazon Aquino as you returns to the hand of our Savior. We all said farewell. But together with these we will never ever forget that once in our life in this world we have President Corazon “Cory” Aquino a woman with dignity and incredible strength to fight what is just for the people and who stands as the legend of truth and justice (by accepting the challenge to run for snap election versus former president and dictator Pres. Marcos) not just for the sake of her husband’s death (Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino) but also for the billions of Pilipino people who believed in her own ability and capacity to lead our beloved country (the Philippines) and make a change which she really did.
We know our sympathy may not be enough for all the things she had done but even then we are thankful and proud to be a Pilipino. And where we may go, what ever we will be. We cannot deny the fact that what we have now Pres. Corazon Aquino was always a part of it.
